A full Firefight match in Kusini Bay (Zanzibar).
Halo Infinite launched in 2021 to widespread acclaim that was, unfortunately, short-lived. 343 Studios didn't have much content in the backburner, and after its first year, many were proclaiming Halo's big reboot as dead. However, in the years since, 343 have added a huge amount of new maps, the editor Forge, gameplay modes, and customization options. Infinite is arguably in the best place it's ever been in, and the new Season 5 update gives die-hards like myself, who after three years have more or less done everything there is to do in Halo, a good reason to return. The Firefight mode adds enemies from the campaign, and it's up to your four-man squad to capture points in King of the Hill while keeping escalating waves of enemies at bay. The action is none-stop and brutal, and it's honestly thrilling to be the last man alive, taking on two Hunters and a Brute boss with a disruptor and a fist-full of grenades. Infinite's campaign gameplay was so good, with an excellent arsenal, solid feel, and intelligent enemies, and Firefight brings all those strengths to multiplayer. So if you've given up on Infinite, check it out again, because I've never had so much fun in Halo since 2007.
